You are entering a college which is committed to providing a comprehensive general education for its students in a caring and safe environment.
The transition to secondary school is a challenging one for young people. Huntly College offers its students a broad general education, combining academic opportunities with sporting, cultural and social activities to encourage the complete development of each individual. Students leaving Huntly College do so in the knowledge that they have received a sound grounding educationally, and many go on to achieve prominence and success both nationally and internationally.
The wide variety of programmes available recognizes the differing abilities and needs of those attending the school, and ensures that all students have the chance to succeed at their own level and in their chosen field. Students today can study for a range of National Certificates, as well as the National Certificate of Educational Achievement at Levels 1 to 3. Many of the courses offered at Huntly College incorporate Unit and Achievement Standards which enable students to study at a level where they can achieve success.
Polytechnic and Link Courses, and the Gateway Programme, provide students with excellent opportunities to develop employment interests and skills. A well resourced Special Education programme operates for those with special needs. We are proud of the achievements of our focused students who have chosen to make the most of these learning opportunities.
The physical environment of the school is modern, providing classrooms, specialist facilities and teaching equipment of the highest standard for the students to enjoy. Set in a well-developed park-like environment, ample space is available for sport and outdoor cultural activities. Facilities for rugby, hockey, soccer, cricket, netball, tennis and athletics are provided. Huntly College has a long tradition of students and staff working to meet their potential within the classroom, and good sportsmanship out on the playground.
Finally, I invite all students, parents and caregivers to come and discuss your child’s education with me, and together we will make their time at Huntly College the best that it can be.
I look forward to meeting you.
