A complete course for the year will involve the completion of at least 24 mathematics credits. A basic program Year 12 program is indicated with the letter ‘B’ in the left column (refer to students' handouts). Please note that there are some level 1 units included in the program. (Students who have already completed these units will not be expected to complete them again.) However, students who have not completed these units cannot expect to go on because the work in subsequent units is based on knowledge gained in the level 1 units. Level 2 Maths is an academic course and you will be expected to put the work in to pass the course. You will also be expected to come to class with all the gear that is necessary to complete the course including purchasing the NuLake Level 2 or Theta Mathematics workbook. Algebra will feature heavily in the work you do this year. It provides the framework we use to manipulate equations and has important application in all areas of science and mathematics. Please note that during the first term we appear to be covering a great number of units. This is to enable those students who have entered the Level 2 program with all prerequisite Level 1 units complete to work ahead. Others in the class will be completing some of the Term 1 units in Term 4.

There will be times when not all the class will be working on the same work. This is because learning needs vary within the group of students in the class. A mature approach where students work quietly on their own while the teacher works with another group will be necessary from time to time. Every effort will be made to tailor individual courses to individual student needs.
