This year HC students have been given great opportunities, organised by the above Workchoice Trust to visit a variety of workplaces and gain hands onexpereince, where theyw ill be introduced to many careers options with each firm visited.
On Tuesday the 2oth of May, 27 students from HC will joing students from neighbouring schools to visit one of three options.
Group 1 : These students will spend the whole time at the Hamilton Airport looking at the Firefighting Department, MAF and Customs, AirNZ and Aviation acitivites in general, from 10 am just after a provided lunch. An International flight coming in will see them leave to allow staff to be involved in their work duties then.
Group 2 : These students will spend the morning at Mainline Sheetmetal Prefabricators, where they will take a practical look at apprentice trades, and will later transfer to look at Grocery trades such as in the bakery and butchery departments. This group will need to porvide and bring their own lunches.
Group 3 : This group will begin at the Ngaruawahia New World Supermarket looking at the more HR and Customer Services and Management career options, although I believe they may be having a hands on experience to bake their lunch! After this they will move on to visit the Hamiton District Council to find out about the many career opportunities they available there. At present Michael Lamb, ex HC, is working as an Assistant Engineer, currently being helped through his qualifications while he works!
LATER ... on Tuesday the 17th of June, Fashion and Design students are being given an opportunity to visit and experience in small groups the designing, making and modelling on the catwalk, of their own garment!!!
